Utilizing guide numbers sourced from flash unit manufacturers, the app calculates either the maximum flash distance for a specified aperture or the required aperture for a desired subject distance. Typically, these guide numbers are specified by flash vendors based on an ISO of 100 and distances in meters. The calculator facilitates the conversion to various ISO settings while automatically converting distances from meters to feet.
In its 2.0 version update, the app introduced the ability to choose power settings on the flash calculator, with options such as Full, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, 1/64, and 1/128. By applying the inverse square law principle, it further provides flash drop-off distances at power levels of 25%, 50%, and 75%.
The depth of field calculator encompasses an extensive range of camera manufacturers and models to form the foundation of its depth of field calculations. Users can supplement unlisted cameras by adding the manufacturer and model information. Additionally, a "Circle of Confusion" value is essential for accurate depth of field computations.
